Our evaluators live sheltered lives
and we like family safe sites that don't use inappropriate
language. We specifically will not evaluate sites
that are generally considered to be of an evil nature. |

Mouse Trailers and/or Comet
Cursors are as irritating as a scraping nail on
a chalkboard, especially after you have seen a
few thousand and will bring a quick DSQ. This
does not mean such things as dhtml code that changes
the cursor into a “hand” or other object but then
releases it when you leave the site; if tastefully
done. |

Remember the evaluators sheltered lives and don't
tempt them with pornography, warez or any illegal
content or activity. |

We love our pets and people
in general and website's that promotes cruelty
or abuse to humans or animals cause us to quickly
say those immortal words, "goodbye." |

We love original graphics
and content. We evaluate a lot of sites each month
and as such become very familiar with recurring
content or images. If we discover copyright infractions
including but not limited to text, scripts, graphics
and images we will DSQ your application. While
we no longer DSQ for not having a written copyright
statement you will lose 10 points as shown in
our Points Deductions above; so be aware. |

We work hard to evaluate
your site and when we issue an award we really
like to go to your awards page and just look at
it. Now if your site is brand new or you are from
a design firm applying for a site you created
just let us know ahead of time, we do understand,
but we will still need your assurance that when
you win an award it will be placed on your site
in an awards section. |

The first level of evaluation
is done by an old guy and unreadable text on the
page, whether it is from a bad background and
text combination or worse hiding keywords in same
coloured text makes it hard on him and it will
DSQ. |

|
There is a place for frames
on a website but they must be used correctly.
We use a frame on our “main” page to allow our
“What’s New” to be scrollable. If you use frames
correct they have benefits if you don't they make
for a sudden DSQ. |

|
The Alt tag describes to
the visually impaired what the image is all about
and if you don't use them they cannot get the
most out of your presentation. Now we all know
it is easy to forget one but if you get to 5%
we will remember to DSQ. |

Our evaluators are avid readers and they like
content so website's that are mainly links to other
sites will be DSQ. |
| |
|
|
Right up there with the nail on the chalkboard
are website's that reduce or eliminate our browsers
function. |

|
|
When we get to your site we like to have a pleasurable
experience and sites that have scripting errors
just don't make it. |
| |
|
|
If the website causes our
evaluators computers to crash or freeze evaluation
will be halted. We will go back and try again
but if it happens again then the site will be
DSQ. |

|
The basis of most sites is html and we don't like
to find broken html code within a page. |
| |
|
|
My toolbar blocks pop-ups
but it makes an aggravating sound when it does
so if you must use a pop-up make certain there
is a legitimate reason for it. |

We really like good clean designs and feel that
excessive use of animations takes away from your
design, so please keep two or less animations on
a page. |

|
When we see a site with pleasing design we like
to see it continued throughout the site. We call
that design continuity or flow and it makes for
a pleasant visit. Different designs from page to
page are not acceptable and will be DSQ. |

No one likes to be told what to do and website's
that force a plug in such as a comet cursors will
send us to the next app. |

|
|
When we get to your site we look forward to seeing
your original images. Sites that have more than
two broken internal images disappoint us and will
be DSQ. |

When we click on one of your links we like to
go there. Website's that have more than 5 broken
external links will be DSQ. |
| |
|
|
The best part of viewing a website is it is always
new. Under Construction or Coming Soon or anything
to that effect on any page is not necessary and
will result in DSQ. |

We need to be able to see
your source code and disabling the right click
just makes it more difficult. Disabling the Right
Click on your site will result in a DSQ. |

|
Horizontal Scroll bars on a minimum 1024x768 screen
resolution will result in DSQ. |

There are cultures where
they cut off your hand for stealing but we only
DSQ you if we believe you are stealing bandwidth
from someone else's server. Such things as linking
to an image rather than having the image resident
on your server will result in a DSQ. |

Our evaluators get excited
about reading your content and if your website
contains less than 5 pages of quality content,
not including awards pages, guest book, and links
pages the site will be DSQ. |

We love a good flash intro as it provides us a
hint of what is inside your website; but please
make certain you have a skip function enabled or
it will be DSQ. |

|
Music, most of us love it and love to listen to
music when the mood hits. There are times however
when silence is indeed golden so if there is sound
on your website be certain we can turn it off or
to zero or again there will be a DSQ. |

|
There are times when due
to the subject matter or for design continuity
a page has to be longer than normal and we recognise
that. What we like to see in that event is Top
of Page links every few clicks down the page and
of course at the bottom of the page, otherwise
DSQ. |

Everyone wants to be assured
their privacy is going to be respected and needs
to feel confident if they are required to give
any of their personal information, including but
not limited to their email address, that there
is a Privacy Statement Policy in effect. We expect
it too. |

Children are our heritage and if your site is
USA based it must conform to COPPA
requirements. |

|
Your site must have a copyright
notice in some form. "Copyright ©
2001-2004 ABC Company All Rights Reserved"
is marginally acceptable. |

Hey kid you probably made a GREAT site but application
for an award must be from a person at least 17 years
old. |

It is too late for me to learn another language
and English is the one I know so your website must
either be in English or have an English version.
Translators on the site are not acceptable I just
can't understand them. |

reasons we cannot evaluate any “Unofficial Fan Sites”
